About the role

Key responsibilites

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure safety considerations are given top priority in work order planning.

  • Planning and scheduling of maintenance work for mechanics and contractors.

  • Work directly with Maintenance and Production Supervisors/Managers to plan preventative and corrective maintenance work orders, develop weekly and long-term schedules, and plan plant shutdowns.

  • Hold weekly planning/scheduling meetings with maintenance and production supervisors/managers to determine short and long term priorities. Schedule maintenance activities to ensure the priorities are satisfied.

  • Define safe work procedures, best practices, PPE, tools, and equipment to be included in work orders and preventative maintenance.

  • Accurately estimate job hours by trade, parts and resources required for all planned work orders.

  • Manage appropriate level of planned work order backlog at all times.

  • Maintain complete and accurate records/plans within CMMS (computerized maintenance management system).

  • Train maintenance/operations personnel in proper use of CMMS to ensure highest quality work orders are produced and maintained for future reference.

  • Actively participate to ensure the highest standards are achieved and maintained in terms of safety, environment, quality, and efficiency.

  • Conduct cycle counts and maintain inventory levels

  • Initiate purchase orders and complete all associated tasks in the purchasing process.

  • Maintain healthy vendor relationships, while insuring Kerry’s best interests are kept.

  • Adhere to all company policies and/or requirements.

  • Be proficient in MAPICS, DFM, IPO, MVP, and any other programs associated with the performance of assigned duties.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Provide updates on all aspects of inventory, purchasing, CMMS, etc. and relay such information effectively to the Maintenance Manager and/or Supervisor.

Qualifications and skills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Industrial maintenance experience.

HS diploma or GED.

Demonstrated work experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.

Five years of experience as a full-time maintenance planner/scheduler or similarly related field.

Able to maintain presence of mind under stressful conditions and accept change.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Appropriate English language ability in order to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must also be able to work at various heights with proper PPE.

Will be expected to work in all areas of the facility and have at least a knowledge of all equipment in the production process as well as all of the facility support and process support equipment and related systems.
